What is an open abaya
An open abaya is a long garment that stays open at the front. You wear it as the top layer, over what you already wear or over a smooth dress. At alsouq there are two: linen and nida. Both run on length in centimetres, not on letters.
Fabric and drape
Linen breathes, feels dry to the touch and creases visibly. Nida is a matte crepe: no shine, a smooth fall and barely a crease. Linen is the most searched fabric for abayas in the Netherlands, which is where this range starts.
Size and length
The size is the length of the garment in centimetres, from 138 to 153. Measure from your shoulder to the floor and pick the number closest to it. Nothing is preselected, so you do not get the shortest by default. If you are between two lengths, take the longer one.
Washing and care
Wash at 30 degrees and hang the abaya to dry. Not in the tumble dryer. Ironing is fine on low heat, on the inside. The composition in percentages is on every product page, because what is called linen has to be linen.
The colours
The whole order is chosen neutral. Brown, coffee and dark coffee together are almost a third of it, and black almost a quarter. There is no bright colour in it. That is not a matter of taste. Across eighteen Dutch and Belgian shops, bright colours stay on the rail longest.
